From the Board: September Update

We’ve commenced a busy period for the DEFGLIS Board, with one of our premier events just around the corner and our acceleration towards the Annual General Meeting. For this update, we give an insight into the past month’s work as discussed in September’s monthly Board Meeting.

Here are some of the key points from this month’s Board Meeting, which was on Tuesday 10 September 2019.

  • Military Pride Ball 2019. This is always a mammoth undertaking – fellow Board Director Andy Maskell has tackled this event with grace and poise, like he always does! We have confirmed an exciting group of VIPs from all parts of the Australian Defence Organisation. Tickets are selling fast and this year is shaping up to be yet another amazing experience for DEFGLIS. A very limited amount of final release tickets are available here!
  • DEFGLIS Awards for Excellence. The criteria were set and the awards were released for nomination last week. These are an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the wonderful things members of DEFGLIS and the wider community are doing to improve diversity, foster inclusion and progress the workforce. The awardees will be announced and presented at the MPB.
  • Treasury. Our treasurer, Donald Robertson, is assisting us in keeping up with the times by enhancing the technology we use for finances. He is also helping us protect the organisation through various insurances that are essential for any not-for-profit charities like ours.
  • Spring Out Festival – Canberra. Advocacy and visibility is essential for us. The Board made a clear decision to increase visibility of our organisation through our participation in the upcoming Spring Out Festival – come down and say hello if you are in Canberra in November!
  • Annual general meeting. This will be occurring in December and there will be plenty of new opportunities for our members to get involved with the DEFLGIS Board – stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
